OK - so GW2 is on it's way - some way off ... but on it's way!

This has left me in something of a confused state. Don't get me wrong .. progress is good but I now find myself wondering what to do now in GW1. I have completed all 3 campaigns and have 10 level 20 chars and concentrate mainly on PVE. I spend most of my time now helping others, capping skills, revisiting missions to get masters, improving the look of my characters, recruiting heroes etc.

Now all this had some point to me .. but now I'm not so sure if it's all going to disappear when I make the transition to GW2. I need some guidance as to what I can do in GW1 that will give me the most benefit in GW2 when that comes along. Otherwise I just have this sinking feeling that I'm wasting my time and it is greatly reducing my enjoyment of the game.

HELP!

What gives you benefits in GW2 is titles. Go get as many titles as you can and they will eventually unlock special minipets and weapon/armor skins and stuff.

Try getting explorer titles for all 3 campaigns?

Given that many titles are character-based rather than account-based.... and the characters will NOT be transferrable....
... What does that imply as regards the benefit transfers of titles? Does it mean that the title benefits of one GW1 char can only be transferred to a single GW2 char... you suppose? ... Or am I wasting my time trying to get Canthan Grandmaster Cartographer with multiple characters?

^When you make a new GW2 character you have to pick one GW1 character to inherit junk from. I think you could link multiple GW2 characters to one GW1 character, but Alex was a bit vague on that. Gaile said there'd be an official announcement about the Hall of Monuments later this week so that should clear up a few things.

I understand their not having characters transferrable given how long a time-gap exists between the games.... This whole monument situation seems a little weird though.

I think that each monument you will see will be of your Characters from Gw, you then assign you self to the followings of one of these Former gloried Heros, thus granting you rewards (depending on what titles that hero had).

For example my Gw2 ranger may idolize the by then long dead Hero called Sophitia Leafblade and will wish to follow in her footsteps of herodom so she talks to the Avatar of Sophitia, binds herself to Sophitia's teachings and is rewarded with a minipet, Sophitia's Leafblade green item etc.

I doubt anet will make it like this but, i still think this would be a cool feature.

Customised skills would be awesome....

Like avatar elites that could transform our GW2 characters into their chosen GW1 ancestor.... or somesuch.

"Avatar of Hyun Chae Soon" is a bit of a verbal mouthful though.

If it's titles that are the key then that seems to be likely to disadvantage PVP players. Hopefully we will get some clarification soon!

It will be related to titles, that doesn't mean it requires full tier titles, so getting "Mighty Hero" Will get u a reward, getting "Deadly Hero" will get u a better reward etc.

Keep in mind that you will build your Hall of Monuments in GW:EN and then have another span of time (1-2 years) to fulfill the requirements to carry things forward.

In the meantime, don't let worries about the far future ruin your enjoyment of the game now.

In those 1 to 2 years they had better give a few more oppurtunities to work on the Lucky / Unlucky title tracks. As far as I'm aware, those are the most infrequently possible tracks to raise (and "Unlucky" is my only account-wide title).... and if it turns out that one had to have been at the original dragon festival way back when in order to reach Hated..... well... I'm gonna be a bit annoyed.

For now, all my low-level characters are marked as "Unlucky"... and I want to raise that some time soon. I have a whole PvP character full of tickets left to use...

Titles is the Key.... I want my monument to have the most Bells and Whistles than anyone else .

I just read the PC Gamer Article yesterday, and there is mention of being able to transfer weapons too. Your monument would hold your weapons from GW1 in a "Glass case" and your GW2 character would be able to take it out and use it.
Really nice article, Must read...
